It's so refreshing when new music pops up and you realize that there are still songs being written that you can identify with and let yourself go and enjoy them... Avidly followed a lot of the music and podcasts out of SXSW and heard a lot of great stuff there. Also took advantage of a CD laying around from one of my dear SIL's friends, ripped it, and fell in love with the album. so...

Poison - Shiny Toy Guns
Money for That - Shiny Toy Guns
When did this storm begin - Shiny Toy Guns
Blown Away - Shiny Toy Guns
Frozen Oceans - Shiny Toy Guns

Dec 16, 2008

Middle of Christmas season and my music doesn't focus on that most commercial of seasons at all. There are so many more achingly depressing songs to be listened to... Somebody's got to do it. Really going through a Radiohead phase right now. Parts of songs will get stuck in my head and play nonstop... not always a bad thing. Oh and the Leonard Cohen is thanks to Wonderful Sister-in-Law-the-first. Cohen is a superb, often-overlooked, master of lyric.

Fake Plastic Trees - Radiohead
My Iron Lung - Radiohead
The Bends - Radiohead
The Guests - Leonard Cohen
If it be your will - Leonard Cohen
Streets of Philadelphia - Bruce Springsteen
Neon Tiger - The Killers

October 29, 2008

Some good times thrown in amongst the usual downers. Saw Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist and enjoyed the music in that. Not overwhelming, but a pleasant background track for a youth oriented romantic comedy. Some bad times too, dealing with rejection and working through a lot of feelings. And some excellent music.

Hands Held High - Linkin Park
Is there a Ghost - Band of Horses
Human - The Killers
Why do I keep Counting - The Killers
Blush - The Raveonettes
Violet Hill - Coldplay
Float On - Modest Mouse

September 17, 2008

Nerve racking time of waiting. Trying to keep my head on straight. And trying to be ready to be the strong one for once. Relationships are better, but still seem on the edge of disappearing. I lose myself in the music because it moves me at a level that life rarely does. Here's some of what I'm listening to...

Love is Noise - The Verve
Hash Pipe - Weezer
Karma Police - Radiohead
Sometime Around Midnight - The Airborne Toxic Event
Minority - Green Day
Everything will be all right - The Killers
I'm Not OK - My Chemical Romance
