I've been fighting the urge to jot songs down. Finally went ahead and started listing them. Running through a random sampling of my on disk library. Crazy combinations of this and that and three of the other. As always these are songs I enjoy that I haven't listed in the past.

Banks and Ballrooms - The Lonely Wild
Faust Arp - Radiohead
Handshakes - Metric
Glass Ceiling - Metric
Bones - Editors
Romeo and Juliet - The Killers
The Porch - Reservations
Stupidland - Family of the Year
Zoo Station - U2
Don't Pass My By - The Beatles
Timeline - CHAPPO
Paper Gangsta - Lady Gaga
I Will Sing You Love Songs - My Morning Jacket
River Rhine - Bison
The Day - They Might Be Giants

Always more to come. Keep listening.

January 30, 2012

Here is some cleanup from listening sessions months ago that never found their way to be published. Many of these were from October 2011 and a pretty tough stretch for me. Several things were ending, and not in a way I liked. I'm not over that, probably won't ever be, but music remains a constant thread through my life. Sometimes it has preserved my sanity and sometimes it has served to give expression to many of the emotions that are too hard to know how to feel about.

Swirly - Ringo Deathstarr
Always Looking - Dum Dum Girls
Vessel - Zola Jesus
Get Right - Megafaun
Montana - Youth Lagoon
Free As A Bird - The Beatles
Ghost Town - First Aid Kit
The Lion's Roar - First Aid Kit

And some from now...

Hair - Lady Gaga
Old Friend - Caveman
Gold - Delayed Trees
Art of Almost - Wilco

Always more to come...

I love when a song stops you in your tracks and begs you to go get the album so you can hear more. Sometimes music grows its way into your heart, and sometimes you just know that you are destined to love it for a long time. A lot like people I suppose. And also like people, music comes and goes. Sometimes you're close to it and what it says and means is very real to you, and other times there is distance. I always love when music closes the distance and speaks directly to my soul. (again - like people)

You want the Candy - The Raveonettes

Cruel - St Vincent

Every Teardrop is a Waterfall - Coldplay

Teeth - Lady Gaga

There are always more, but I wanted to throw a few songs up and I'll get back to it and hopefully post sooner than later.
